Deutsche Telekom runs Germany's top-rated 5G but supplies no travel eSIM brand — YonoSIM routes across Vodafone and O2, both close behind. A travel eSIM covers Germany on a local network from about US$2 — far cheaper than non-EU roaming. Coverage, data sizing, and price comparison for 2026.

Wi-Fi Calling (WLAN Call / WLAN-Telefonie) lets your +49 mobile number ring and text over WLAN anywhere abroad — essential for landing Sparkasse, DKB, N26, ING, Commerzbank, PayPal, ELSTER and Ausweisapp SMS TANs while you're outside the EU. Roam Like At Home already covers you in the EU/EEA; WLAN Call earns its keep in the UK, US, Asia and beyond. What to check for Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile), Vodafone Germany, O2 (Telefónica), 1&1, congstar, Aldi Talk and Fraenk before you fly.

QIs an O2-only eSIM good enough for Germany?
AIn Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt, yes. On ICE train routes and in rural Bavaria and Thuringia, O2 drops noticeably sooner than Vodafone or Telekom. YonoSIM routes across O2 and Vodafone; Airalo publishes O2 as its primary German network. Telekom has the best national coverage but does not supply travel eSIM brands.

The one Germany travel guide that actually explains Schengen entry + the pending ETIAS, why Germany is still a cash country in many small places, how the €58 Deutschlandticket works nationally, driving on the Autobahn with no speed limit on some stretches, and the German phrases that unlock the country.
QWhich network has the best coverage in Germany?
ADeutsche Telekom (D1) runs the most extensive 5G and the widest rural coverage, with Vodafone strong in cities and O2 (Telefónica) close behind. All three cover the large majority of the population, but Telekom supplies no travel eSIM brand, so a travel eSIM routed through Vodafone or O2 gives excellent nationwide 4G/5G.
QDoes one eSIM cover Germany and the rest of Europe?
AYes — a European regional eSIM covers Germany plus the rest of the EU on one profile, ideal for a Berlin trip paired with Prague or Amsterdam. You don't swap profiles at the border; the same plan keeps working across countries.
QHow much data do I need for a week in Germany?
AA standard week of maps, transit apps, and social fits 5–10 GB. Plans start at a few dollars for a few GB; a 10 GB plan suits a typical week, and 20–25 GB covers two weeks or trips with hotspot use.
QIs a travel eSIM cheaper than roaming in Germany?
AFor non-EU visitors, yes. EU 'roam like at home' only applies to EU/EEA SIM holders, so visitors from outside Europe pay high per-day roaming fees. A travel eSIM on a German network from a few dollars is far cheaper.

Data excellent. SMS would have been good :)Easy to install. Great signal great service, great price. Fabulous!!Good as isEverything worked very well. Even we have some restrictions about Esim registration in Turkiye, I could able to use it as soon as I landed in Denmark. And I got all the questions answered in a few minutes. I’ll be using it again and again for sure!설치가 간편하고 빠른 속도와 안정된 접속으로 여행 기간 동안 잘 사용 했어요.Worked well, stable fast. recommendationDeutsche Telekom runs Germany's widest 5G but supplies no travel eSIM, so our German plans route across Vodafone and O2; in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt either is excellent, while on ICE routes and in rural Bavaria O2 drops noticeably sooner than Vodafone. A 5 GB plan does a city break and 10 GB a week; for Oktoberfest or multi-city rail trips, size up to 25 GB.
Our Germany plans run on O2 and Vodafone with 5G where the network has it; traffic exits through FR/NL/UK. 18 plans, hotspot allowed on every one, activation within 180 days of purchase.
