On iPhone
Open Settings › Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, your iPhone supports eSIM. iPhone XS / XR (2018) and newer all qualify.
Compatibility
If you've bought a flagship phone in the last few years from Apple, Google, or Samsung, it's very likely eSIM-compatible. Search the list below to confirm — or check your phone's settings under Mobile Data / Cellular on iPhone or SIMs / Mobile Network on Android.
Type any model name. We cover phones, tablets, watches, and a few cellular laptops.

Three quick ways to confirm compatibility before you buy a travel data plan.
Open Settings › Cellular (or Mobile Data). If you see Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, your iPhone supports eSIM. iPhone XS / XR (2018) and newer all qualify.
Open Settings › Network & Internet › SIMs (Pixel) or Settings › Connections › SIM manager (Samsung). Look for Add eSIM or Download a SIM instead.
On any phone, dial *#06#. If an EID (Embedded Identity Document) is shown, your device has an eSIM chip. No EID = no eSIM.
The current generation and recent flagships from each major manufacturer. Carrier-locked or regional variants may differ — always confirm in Settings.
All iPhone models from XS (2018) onward support eSIM. iPhone 14 and newer sold in the US are eSIM-only — no physical SIM tray. iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini with cellular also support eSIM.
Galaxy S20 and newer flagships support eSIM. Foldables (Z Fold / Z Flip) from 2021 onward are supported. Note: Samsung devices sold in mainland China and Hong Kong typically do not support eSIM.
All Pixel phones from Pixel 3a onward support eSIM, with the exception of the Pixel 5a (US). Pixel 8 and newer support two simultaneously active eSIMs.
Selected models from Motorola, OnePlus, Sony, Xiaomi, OPPO, Honor, Huawei, Nokia, and Microsoft. Support varies significantly by region — verify the model number printed on the box.
Select Razr, Edge, and Moto G models support eSIM. Availability varies by region and carrier — check the model number on the box before purchase.
OnePlus 11, 12, 13, and the OnePlus Open support eSIM. Older models (8, 9, 10) generally do not.
Xperia 1 IV and newer (1 V, 1 VI, 1 VII, 5 V, 10 V, 10 VI) support eSIM in most regions.
Xiaomi 13, 14, 15 series support eSIM in select regions. Mainland China variants typically do not.
Find X5 Pro, Find X6 Pro, Find X7 Ultra, and Find N3 support eSIM in supported regions.
Magic 5 Pro, Magic 6 Pro, and select Honor 90/100 series models support eSIM in supported regions.
P40 and Mate 40 Pro support eSIM in regions where the feature was enabled by the operator. Most newer Huawei devices ship without Google services.
Nokia G60, X30, and XR21 support eSIM. Older Nokia devices generally do not.
Surface Pro X, Surface Pro 8/9, Surface Go 2/3, and Surface Duo / Duo 2 support eSIM with cellular SKUs.
Even on a supported model, a few things can block activation. Check these before you fly.
A phone bought on contract may be locked to the original carrier's network and reject third-party eSIMs. Request an unlock from your carrier before traveling.
Devices sold in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao often have eSIM disabled. The same model number sold in the EU or US is usually fine.
eSIM support requires iOS 12.1+ or Android 9+. If your settings page does not show an Add eSIM option, run a system update first.
The eSIM chip can be physically swapped or disabled during repairs. Verify the EID by dialing *#06# — no EID means no eSIM.
Every iPhone from the XS / XR (2018) onward supports eSIM, including the SE (2nd and 3rd gen). iPhone 14 and later sold in the US are eSIM-only — there's no physical SIM tray at all.
Galaxy S20 and newer flagships, all Galaxy Z Fold / Z Flip models from 2021 onward, the Note 20 series, and select Galaxy A models (A35, A36, A54, A55, A56). Devices sold in mainland China and Hong Kong are an exception and typically do not support eSIM.
All Pixel phones from Pixel 3a onward, with one exception: the US variant of the Pixel 5a does not have eSIM. Pixel 8 and newer can run two eSIMs simultaneously.
Yes — most eSIM-capable phones support Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS): one nano-SIM plus one active eSIM. This is the typical traveler setup: keep your home number on the physical SIM and add a local data eSIM abroad. The exception is iPhone 14 and newer US models, which are eSIM-only.
The list above focuses on recent flagships and travel-friendly devices. If your phone is older or from a smaller brand, dial *#06# — if you see an EID, you have an eSIM chip. You can also check Settings › Network & Internet on Android or Settings › Cellular on iOS for an Add eSIM option.
